Zenith Model 50-X Transistor (Body) Hearing Aid
The Zenith Model 50-X Transistor Hearing Aid was manufactured by the
Hearing Aid Division of the Zenith Radio Corp. beginning in October, 1955. It was an
3-transistor aid.
The Zenith Model 50-X measured 2¾" x 1¾" x
11/16" thick, and weighed 2¾ oz. with battery. The aluminum case was
unusual in that it was colored black rather than the light silver or
gold colored cases usually used by Zenith (and other manufacturers) at
this time.
The vertical rectangular microphone grill was in the front center of the case.
Notice that the pocket clip skirted the microphone grill on its sides
and bottom.

In June, 1956 Zenith came out with another version of the Model
50-X. For some reason, they did not designate this version as a
sub-model although it had several significant changes--namely--the case
was silver-colored aluminum case, it had a 4-transistor amplifier, and
it had a tone control. This version of the Zenith Model 50-X sold for
$50.00.
