Radioear Model 840 “Lady America" Hearing Aid

The Radioear Model 840 "Lady America" hearing aid, manufactured by Radioear Corporation of Pennsylvania, in 1956 is an unusual barrette or clip-on style of hearing aid.

The hearing aid measures 2⅜" by 1⅜" and is ˝" thick. It weighs 3 oz. with its battery.

The hearing aid consists of three parts, one that houses the electronics and battery compartment (left), one that houses the microphone (right), and a clip that goes in between the two hearing aid pieces (middle).

A unique feature of this hearing aid is that the same two components (electronics/battery case and microphone case) used in this hearing aid plug into the temple pieces of special Radioear eyeglass frames to form the Model 840 eyeglass style hearing aid (right).
