Conversation Tubes

Lignum Vitae Conversation Tube

This conversation tube is 44 inches in length with a bell opening of 2.5 inches.

The bell and ear piece are both made of wood which appears to be lignum vitae, a very dark hard wood grown in the tropics. The tube is covered with a black silk material.

This conversation tube was purchased in England, and dates from somewhere around 1880.
