Auricles

Super Ear—Headband Model

The Super Ear was a device manufactured during the 1920's by the American Ear Phone Company of New York.

The picture at the right shows the Super Ear from the back.

This item is fitted with a headband and is marked "Super Ear Type H". Additional markings say "Apply to Better Ear", U.S. Patent 3-5-25 and Canada 3-31-25. These also came in a binaural arrangement.

This single-sided Super Ear is the equivalent of wearing just one hearing aid.

These devices were sometimes referred to as ear scoops and employed a reflective principal similar to that used in ear trumpets, such as, the London dome. They came with three sizes of ear tips which could be changed to fit the ear canal of the user.
