Auricles

Earglasses Sound Magnifiers

These Earglasses Sound Magnifiers are really just modern day auricles. They were made by The Listening Institute of Huntington Beach, CA.

The picture at the right shows the Earglasses from the front. They fit just behind each ear and function much like a hand cupped around each ear.

The Earglasses were issued US Patent No. 4,997,056 on March 5, 1991.

Earglasses used to cost $9.95 at http://www.earglasses.com. However, Mike Riley closed down the operation in 2009.

The raised transparent rectangle (right ear piece, easier to see on ear piece above—left side) indicates the right ear piece. Some people try to put them on backwards (with the rectangle on the left ear).
