Hearing Aid Batteries

Eveready E401E Mercury Hearing Aid "A" Battery

This is an Eveready 1.4 volt mercury hearing aid "A" battery used in the vacuum tube and transistor hearing aids in the 1950s.

This battery weighs about ˝ oz., and measures 1 1/8" by ˝" in diameter.

Mercury batteries are no longer sold today because of the large quantities of mercury in them, and the consequent environmental concerns.
