Hearing Aid Batteries

Eveready D888 Hearing Aid "A" Battery

This is an English Eveready 4½ volt "A" battery used in vacuum tube hearing aids in the 1930s and 1940s. As you can see, the cost was 2 shillings.

This battery weighed 8 oz., and measured 3¾" by 3" by 1".

The D888 "A" battery was often paired with the B112 "B" battery.

This D888 battery, although it has the same model number as the above "A" battery, is a 4½ volt battery used in carbon hearing aids.

It's interesting that the D888 batteries could either be used  in carbon hearing aids, or as the "A" battery in some early vacuum tube hearing aids.
