Hearing Aid Batteries

Zenith "N-Cell" Carbon-Zinc Hearing Aid Battery

The Zenith "N-Cell" 1½ volt carbon-zinc battery was made by the Zenith Radio Corp. of Chicago, IL for body-worn transistor hearing aids of the 1950s and early 1960s.

This battery weighed about ¼ oz., and measured 1 3/16" long by 7/16" in diameter.

It was the cheaper alternative to the "N" sized mercury batteries common at this time, and may also have been the replacement for mercury batteries when they were discontinued due to health hazard considerations.
