Hearing Aid Batteries

General EP-140 Carbon Hearing Aid Battery

The General EP-140 was a 3 volt zinc-carbon hearing aid battery used in carbon hearing aids around the early 1940s. It was manufactured by the the General Dry Battery Company of Cleveland, Ohio.

The General EP-140 battery weighed 8.0 oz (226 g), and measured 4 1/16" high by 2⅛" wide by 1⅛" thick.

Note that the left terminal is thicker (⅛") than the right terminal (3/32") to prevent this battery being plugged in backwards and thus reversing the polarity.

The terminals are set 1" (2.5 cm) apart.
